Discover the sound of late seventeenth century London theatre through songs and dances by some of England’s great tune-makers. Featuring Miriam Scholz-Carlson and Jim Kim, violins; Julie Elhard, gamba; Tami Morse, harpsichord; and soprano Carrie Henneman Shaw, hear some of Purcell’s famous suites of incidental music from plays, along with mad songs - a form that was all the rage among the first professional English actresses. Also featuring music by lesser known theatre composers John Weldon and John Eccles.
